I've been facilitating retreats for over 6 years and it is an always evolving and amazing experience! Retreats are held at a beautiful 11 acre private retreat center and are 3-5 days long. Participants engage in yoga and dialogue, opening up an opportunity for exploration and self-knowledge. Yoga will be used as an avenue to create space for the mind and body to facilitate deeper learning. From the sense of health and well-being that yoga cultivates, can we explore the deeper issues of what it means to be human — to know ourselves in a fresh, holistic way. We ask the question: Is it possible - through listening and direct observation of body, breath and mind - to slow down the automatic processes of conditioning and come upon a new sense of order in the mind?
You’ll explore the connection between mind, body, and life, through yoga and dialogue. This is an opportunity to examine Krishnamurti’s works through a refreshed lens as one engages the body and brings the full self into the inquiry. These programs are not about somehow understanding Krishnamurti more deeply through the practice of yoga. Instead, they are about utilizing the practice to come into the body and begin to pay attention to it. When the body is tuned into, there is a quality of awareness and attentiveness that is brought to the inquiry. This kind of attention can bring about a unique sense of openness and connection.
There will be daily yoga practices, a hike in the surrounding mountains, silent sittings, vegetarian meals, and open discussions. This program is facilitated by Francesca Michelle Gold, Yoga Therapist and E-RYT 500, who has had deep and lifelong contact with the work of J. Krishnamurti and received her teaching certifications through the Himalayan Institute of Yoga Science and Philosophy and Loyola Marymount University. She describes her teaching style as observation based, mindful, and meditative.
These retreats offer a space for reflection, questions, sharing, and observation through yoga and honest discussion. The intention is to create an opportunity where one can observe the intricacies of thought and look at deeper questions. We will practice yoga, exploring the coordination of movement with breath and turning our attention more deeply inwards to pay attention to the subtle movements of the body, breath and mind. We will listen to Krishnamurti on subjects such as sensitivity, relationship, meditation, intelligence, and transformation.
